BIRTHDAY AND OCCASION CAKES

 

Please get in touch about the cake you require as far in advance as possible, we would advise at least one month before the event to avoid disappointment.

 

When you contact us, please include the following details:

  • The date the cake is required

  • Design ideas for your cake

  • Number of portions you require

  • The flavour(s) you require

  • Whether you will require delivery or collection

 

Once you have decided you’d like us to make your cake, you will need to pay a 50% non-refundable deposit which reserves your order for the day you’ve specified. The remaining balance of the cake must be paid in full one week before the cake is to be collected/delivered. Late or no payment is subject to cancellation. Late payments may result in substitutions or modifications to the original order as well as an additional charge. Your date is not secure or penciled in until your booking form has been sent and your deposit has been paid.  If you are unsure please contact me through our contact form or on 07427519972 where I’d be happy to discuss your requirements. Opening hours are 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday, and Saturdays by appointment only.

 

WEDDING CAKES

 

We would advise that as soon as you have booked your venue to get in touch. Our wedding cakes are handmade and intricately detailed. This means they require many hours of work and therefore our weekly capacity is limited. We are currently taking bookings one or two years in advance so please don’t leave it too late. CONSULTATIONS

Consultations are an informal meeting that is a great way for us to meet each other and for me to get a sense of what you require. You can taste samples of our cakes at the meeting or take them home. During the consultation, I will try to get a feel for your wedding and the type of cake you would love on your special day. Please bring along any pictures, dress patterns, colour swatches, invitations, etc. These will help me in designing your perfect cake! We advise that you book your venue before our consultation as the venue will often dictate the style of cake, for example, a small cake may be lost in a large venue and a buttercream/ naked cake may not withstand the heat of a tent in the summer months. Consultations are £20.00, by appointment only and usually last about an hour, should you decide to book this amount is deducted from your deposit (subsequent consultations do incur a charge but are not usually necessary). Consultations are strictly for two people only. In some circumstances, it may be impossible to attend a consultation so I’m happy to conduct one over the telephone or via email and post your samples to you.

I’M NOT QUITE SURE WHAT I WANT?

Don’t worry! You can give me a call on 07427519972 or complete a contact form and we can arrange a consultation or I can give you a few ideas. Designing a cake from scratch is very fun for us so please don’t think that having no set idea, as a hindrance. If you send us pictures of cake you have seen, we prefer not to copy them exactly but create a bespoke cake design that is unique to you but influenced by the design you like. Buttercream and naked cakes are becoming more popular as most couples dread the taste of thick fondant icing. All our fondant cakes are covered with a thin layer of ganache (think set chocolate truffle!) and a thin layer of Swiss patisserie fondant. Remember, due to the way a wedding cake is portioned the amount of icing will typically only be an inch square anyway.

DELIVERY OR COLLECTION?

Birthdays and Occasions

Collection or delivery will be arranged at the time of ordering your cake. Delivery will incur an extra charge for deliveries over 5 miles from my location in Barnsley. 

Weddings

In 99% of cases, we will deliver and set up your wedding cake on the morning of your wedding. However, we know that not all weddings are within our delivery radius. In these cases, your cakes will be fitted with extra support and packaged in a sturdy box. All heavy or delicate decorations can be boxed separately and fitted by yourself (with directions from us) at the venue. I can deliver UK wide but anything over 5 miles from my location in Barnsley will be charged accordingly. A set-up charge will be added for all cakes that require such.

WHAT SIZE CAKE WILL I NEED AND HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

Iced, tiered cakes are generally served in finger portions which in the case of a Katrina's Bespoke Cakes is around 5 inches deep and 1 inch square. As a rough guide to starting prices for a simple fondant covered cake trimmed with ribbon:

One Tier

6" Round will give 24 portions (12 1"x2" portions) and start at £55

8" Round will give 48 portions (24 1"x2" portions) and start at £65

10" Round will give 76 portions (38 1"x2" portions) and start at £75

Two Tier

4” and 6” round cakes will give 36 portions (18 1"x2" portions) and start at £150.
6” and 8” round cakes will give 72 portions (36 1"x2" portions) and start at £170.

Three Tier

4”, 6” and 8“ round cakes will give 84 portions (42 1"x2" portions) and start at £230.
6”, 8” and 10” round cakes will give 148 portions (74 1"x2" portions) and start at £295.

Four Tier

4”, 6”, 8“ and 10” round cakes will give 160 portions (80 1"x2" portions) and start at £360.
6”, 8”, 10” and 12” round cakes will give 256 portions (128 1"x2" portions) and start at £400.

Cupcakes are of a generous muffin size, simple swirl topped cupcakes start at £2.50 each, fondant iced designs start at £3.50 each.

EXTRA DETAILS

Decorations and sugar flowers are priced according to their design and intricacy, it is often underestimated how long a cake can take to produce bespoke designs so please take this into consideration when ordering.

All cakes will be clearly quoted within your invoice. You can choose from intricate sugar flowers and mouldings, piped details, ribbons, and models to make your cake unique. Should you want to include fresh flowers or a topper that you have purchased then that is not a problem and can be discussed at the time of your consultation an these will be added during set-up.

Fake tiers can be added to your cake to give your cake the wow factor without risking excess cake or wastage. The fake tiers will be decorated as real tiers but the cost will be lower than real cake. Please ask for more details if this would be of interest to you.
