Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance do I need to book my wedding cake? I would suggest 12-18 months before your wedding is ideal. For summer weddings, early is always best as these dates book up quickly and I only do a maximum of two cakes a week. My main piece of advice when booking suppliers for your wedding is, if you find a supplier you like and they fit within your budget, then book them as soon as you know you want them to be part of your day.

How big of a cake do I need? The size of the cake you order is based on the number of guests that will be attending your wedding. This is day and night guest numbers, as your cake will usually be cut when the evening guests have arrived. The only time this will change is if you are serving your cake as your dessert (larger portions) so please let me know this when you enquire and I can be sure to give you the right size cake. Take a look at my size/ price guides on the services and pricing page for an idea of what size you may need.

How do I book Katrina's Bespoke Cakes to make my cake? Booking me to make your cake is easy. When you know you would like me to make your cake, please complete the contact form to make sure I have the availability. Fill out all the fields and include any design ideas you have so that I can give you the correct starting prices. When you are happy that your budget aligns with my prices, you can secure your date with a £100 (non-refundable, non-transferable) deposit. You can also purchasing a sample box for £35 (postage included) if you wish to try my cakes first.

How much does a wedding cake cost? This isn't a straightforward question to answer. The final cost of your cake has many factors, whether that be the finish, the number of sugar flowers, the flavours your choose, or the location of your venue. You can find starting prices for different finishes and cake sizes on your pricing and service page, along with an average cost. Please be aware, this does not include the price of delivery and setup of your cake. If you would like a more personalised estimate for a cake, please complete my contact form.

Do you offer cakes for special diets? I do indeed. I offer gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. If you have any other dietary requirements or specific ingredients you need to avoid, please let me know at the time of enquiry.

Is your Kitchen fully registered and insured? Yes, I am registered with the local council and my kitchen has received a 5* health rating. I am also fully insured, and have completed the appropriate food handling and allergen training.

Do you deliver the wedding cake? All wedding cakes will be delivered and setup by me at the venue on the day of your wedding as standard. Smaller cakes may be collected if the wedding is being held outside our delivery range.

How far will you deliver? My usual delivery radius is set at 90 minutes from my home kitchen (Brampton Bierlow, S73). However, if your wedding venue is outside this radius, please contact me for further information. Areas I have previously delivered too: Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Leeds, Harrogate, York, Chesterfield, Peak District, Manchester. Counties: South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, East Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lincolshire, Lancashire.

Can we hire a stand for our cake? Stands can be hired from me for a small charge of £10-20 per stand. A security deposit will also be payable with the final balance. The stand must be returned to us in a good, clean condition within 5 days of the wedding. Upon the return of the stand, the security deposit will be refunded.

Do you make celebration and occasion cakes? Unfortuntalye not, my diary is full many months in advance and due to the hours/work that is involved in making wedding cakes, I need to dedicate my time soley to those couples and their dream cakes.
